The Scratch Programming Course That Started With a 7-Year-Old's Dream
When my 7-year-old heard the inspiring story of Blessed Carlos Acutis - the young patron saint of the internet who used technology to spread faith - he came to me with bright eyes saying he wanted to start making websites of his own, just like Carlos did.
There was just one problem: he knew nothing about computers, and my wife, who homeschools our kids, didn't have a computer science background to guide him.
As a computer scientist with a Master's degree from Georgia Tech, I realized there was a huge gap - no good curriculum existed for parents without CS degrees to teach their children programming. So I created this course.
Parent-Tested, Kid-Approved
I've successfully used this curriculum to teach my own children ages 5-10. It's designed so that any parent can confidently guide their child through learning to code, no technical background required.
What Makes This Different
- Word-for-word parent scripts - You'll never wonder what to say
- 28 weeks of structured lessons - Each building systematically on the last
- Real projects - By Week 28, your child creates complete games with scoring, lives, and levels
- Flexible pacing - Self-paced, perfect for homeschooling families
- Ages 8-13Β - Designed for kids who can read instructions and use a mouse
What Your Child Will Learn
Your child will master: sprite movement and animation, variables and data storage, loops and repetition, conditional logic (if-then thinking), game mechanics, custom functions, and complete project planning.
Perfect For
- Homeschooling families
- Parents who want to teach coding but don't know where to start
- Kids inspired by technology and creativity
- Families looking for structured, educational screen time
Time commitment: 50-60 minutes per lesson
Requirements: Computer with internet, modern web browser, mouse
Cost: Scratch is completely free to use!
This isn't just another coding course - it's a parent-tested, kid-approved pathway to help your children discover the joy of creating with technology, just like young Carlos Acutis did.
